Nick Quest 3.0 is live!


I'm back, baby. I've recently taken funds from the sale of Nick Quest to purchase additional assets and have steadily been working them into the game. It's been a large-scale overhaul with a lot of unexpected bumps, but the new version is finally here! Enjoy an even more polished experience with a greatly-expanded soundtrack, new areas, new monsters, and rebalanced progression!


Here is a list of all the changes made:

-Additional music tracks were added to the game

-Additional monster graphics were added

-Several monsters were renamed with a graphical swap

-A new area has been added near "Green Valley"

-Enemy troops for Green Valley have been adjusted

-The location of the Hunt, Sahagin, has been changed

-Expanded maps for the Eastern Paths between southern Arcatia and the Great Bridge have been added

-A new dungeon, the Tidal Caves, has been added

-New enemies and items for the Tidal Caves have been added

-The Haste Ring has been removed

-The counter rate of Taunt has been increased

-Action Surge's attack increase now lasts for 5 turns

-The damage of Piercing Strike has been lowered

-Executioner has had its damage increased, but can no longer score a critical hit

-The damage and stats of several Royal Arms have been rebalanced and adjusted

-Experience and GP rates have been lowered 

-Enemies in the Tower of Verity now drop sallable items at an increased rate

-The maps for the Hidden Library have been expanded with a new puzzle added

-The Water Temple dungeon has been expanded

-The MP cost for Mega Heal has been increased

-Various enemies have had adjustments to their attack and defense values

-Troops have been adjusted to give more variety to encounters

-Certain enemies have had their AI adjusted for more dynamic encounters

-Hunts no longer drop any GP

-Master Lewis no longer grants exp on his first training session; instead, characters will obtain a permanent stat boost

-A bug with the Julius quest has been fixed

-The  Turtle Ring has had a regen effect added

-Dark Lord now serves 30% more tea

-The location of the "Speed Boots" item has been changed

-The midway boss fight in the Tower of Verity now only drops the Hero's Ring

-The cliffs maps were adjusted to no longer brush against the edge of the map

-A minigame, the race against Big Bro, has been added

-A unique stat has been added to the Caladbolg (beta)

-New abilities have been added for enemy use

-The explanation of controls has been removed. These have been added to the itch.io site.

-Certain hints have been made a little more vague for side quests.


I hope that you all enjoy these changes! It's been a lot of work, but this game is now what I've always envisioned. I thought, momentarily, about purchasing some new tilesets or visual assets, but I don't want the charm, heart, and soul of the game to change. The music really enhances the experience and having a small, but more noticeable grind, helps the pacing of the game.
